Cook II - Madison, WI (53000 area) - C1 Staffing is hiring an experienced Cook II to prepare, portion, cook, and present hot and cold food items across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered events. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity paying $19.22 per hour, with overtime paid at $26.91 per hour and a consistent 40-hour weekly schedule.
What you will do:
- Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods- Support breakfast service, making sure items are ready on time and held at proper temperature- Cook and plate lunch and dinner items to the standards set by the kitchen- Contribute to special events and catered functions, including production for larger guest counts- Portion food items consistently so that servings and presentation match expectations plate after plate- Maintain food quality, presentation, and safe handling standards throughout the entire shift- Work alongside the kitchen team in a fast-paced environment to keep service moving during peak meal periods
Schedule and pay:
- $19.22 per hour, with overtime paid at $26.91 per hour- Paid weekly- Friday through Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.- Wednesday and Thursday off- 40 hours per week- Contract-to-hire, with ongoing potential for the right person
What you will need:
- Must be 18 or older- Prior cooking experience in a high-volume or institutional kitchen- Comfort preparing both hot and cold items and working across different meal periods- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment- Attention to portioning, plating, and food safety standards- Slip-resistant shoes and black pants (no yoga pants or sweatpants); the uniform shirt is provided on site- Dependability for a five-day schedule that includes weekend coverage
