Yard Driver (CDL Class A) — Hayward, CA
C1 Staffing is hiring a CDL Class A Yard Driver to reposition tractors and trailers and support warehouse and transportation operations at a food supply chain distribution site in Hayward, California. This is an ongoing, career-track assignment paying $30.00 per hour, with pay issued weekly.
What you will do:- Safely reposition company tractors and trailers throughout designated non-highway yard areas and spot them at assigned dock doors.- Perform trailer backing maneuvers safely and efficiently in a busy, active yard.- Shuttle tractor-trailers to and from logistics suppliers and leasing companies, and transport trailers for washing and cleaning services as needed.- Conduct daily yard inspections and document any vehicle defects on the Driver Vehicle Condition Report (DVCR), reporting maintenance concerns promptly to the Transportation Manager.- Monitor refrigerated trailers carrying perishable products such as cheese and chicken to confirm proper temperatures are maintained.- Follow all chock, safety cone, and dock signal light policies, comply with DOT regulations, and keep accurate DOT logs.- Keep warehouse personnel supplied with trailers for loading and unloading, assist with unloading trailers when operationally necessary, and support route drivers with unloading product at store locations when assigned.- Assist with backhaul operations, respond to requests from management and transportation staff, and attend required safety meetings and training sessions.
Schedule and pay:- Pay rate is $30.00 per hour.- Paid weekly.- Ongoing, career-oriented assignment rather than a short-term project.
What you will need:- Must be at least 21 years of age for this safety-sensitive driving position.- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with Air Brakes endorsement.- Minimum of six months of verifiable Commercial Motor Vehicle driving experience; one year preferred.- Current DOT Medical Certificate and the continued ability to meet Motor Vehicle Record standards required to operate a company commercial motor vehicle.- Demonstrated ability to safely operate tractors and trailers in a high-traffic yard, with a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and teamwork.- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and perform pushing of products and equipment.- Comfort climbing stairs to access equipment, working in refrigerated areas, working outdoors in rain, heat, and other weather conditions, and working around loud warehouse machinery.- Steel-toe boots are required personal protective equipment on site.- This employer participates in E-Verify; you must be able to provide documentation establishing identity and authorization to work in the United States.
