C1 Staffing is hiring a Senior Utility Worker for a short-term, shift-based assignment with one of our clients in New York, NY. The role pays $19.39 per hour with overtime at $27.15 per hour, and the shift runs 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
This is a hands-on kitchen support role with a leadership component. You will keep the back-of-house running cleanly and efficiently while serving as the senior utility person on the floor, setting the pace and giving direction to other utility staff during the shift.
What you will do:- Maintain kitchen work areas so they stay clean, organized and ready for service throughout the shift- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, then return it to its proper storage location- Wash, sanitize and properly store utensils, smallwares and service items- Serve as the senior utility team member on shift and set the standard for cleanliness and pace- Provide direction and guidance to lower-level utility staff, including assigning tasks and checking completed work- Support the kitchen team with general upkeep tasks as needed, such as restocking stations and clearing work surfaces- Communicate with kitchen leadership about supply needs, equipment issues or sanitation concerns
Schedule and pay:- Pay is $19.39 per hour- Overtime is paid at $27.15 per hour- Shift is 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, based on a 40-hour workweek schedule- Short-term contract assignment, shift-based, and may be ongoing- Paid weekly
What you will need:- Must be 18 or older- Prior experience working in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment- Comfort leading and directing other utility workers during a shift- Ability to stand, walk and bend for the length of the shift- Ability to lift as required by the role, including moving equipment, utensil racks and supplies- Reliable attendance and on-time arrival for the scheduled start- A professional, team-first approach in a fast-paced kitchen- Attention to detail with cleaning, sanitizing and proper storage procedures
